Disegno #26
Note from the editor:
Stuck for reading material while in lockdown? Disegno is happy to announce that help is at hand: the spring 2020 issue of the Quarterly Journal of Design, Disegno #26, is now available for pre-order and will be published on 20 April 2020.
Disegno #26 offers in-depth, long-form journalism and critical writing, as well as inspiring portraiture, arts photography and reportage, all of which provide a window onto contemporary design and surrounding fields. The issue will be available in both print and digital formats.
Highlights from the spring issue include a history of São Paulo’s radical Casa do Povo and its future in Jair Bolsonaro’s Brazil; an investigation of whether apps can help us break our addiction to, erm, apps; a trip to Formafantasma’s Amsterdam studio on the occasion of its new show at the Serpentine; a look at the literary potential of hotel architecture in the work of Eimear McBride; a visit to MoMA for the new Neri Oxman show; a study of gambling laws and medal games in Tokyo’s arcades; a glimpse into Celine’s refashioning of retail; a photographic tour of Alpine chalets, seen out of season; an investigation of the design failures of forensic kits; and a journey to Mars with NASA’s rover programme.
